China’s electrical explosion-proof equipment industry has entered a new stage of standardized upgrading.

Recently, the national mandatory standard GB 3836.15-2024, “Explosive Atmospheres—Part 15: Design, Selection, and Installation Requirements for Electrical Equipment,” has been fully implemented, marking a new stage of standardized and refined development for China’s electrical explosion-proof equipment industry and establishing a robust technical safeguard for safe production in high-risk sectors such as oil, chemical, and coal mining. Issued in July 2024 and coming into mandatory effect on August 1, 2025, this standard replaces the previous voluntary standard by setting out mandatory compliance requirements for the design, selection, and installation of explosion-proof electrical equipment, refining technical specifications, and reducing safety hazards. Local authorities have actively organized specialized training and technical exchanges to help enterprises align with the new regulations; meanwhile, continuous technological innovation across the industry has led to the widespread adoption of intelligent and modular solutions. Enterprises are proactively complying with regulatory requirements and upgrading their products, thereby jointly promoting high-quality development of the sector.
